Frequently Asked Questions
Can I book out the space for a group of my own?
Yes. All classes are a minimum of 6, maximum of 20. During Covid-19, we're taking necessary precautions to max out a class to 10, unless it's for a group that feels comfortable sharing the space with others.
What do I wear?
Clothes! You may make your experience as casual or as dressy as you'd like! Other than that, we just ask that you dress comfortably. You will be provided with an apron to use, but be aware that just like in your home kitchen, you may not want to wear your 'best' clothes.
Can I purchase Gift Cards?
Absolutely! We suggest that you do so for those 'hard to buy for' loved ones. This will give them a unique experience to try. Just click here to purchase a gift card: https://www.blackdiamondculinary.com/gift-card
Where can I find what classes are available?
You may find all available classes with a full description here: https://www.blackdiamondculinary.com/blank-2
Am I expected to cook?
Well, we love for you to partake, but if you decide that you'd prefer for someone that you're with to cook the meal, or to have one of our chefs to complete you meal for you, just let us know! We just want you to enjoy your experience and do whatever makes you comfortable.
Do we cook at peoples homes?
No. We encourage you to come to our kitchen, and play with us!
What kind of cuisine do you teach?
A little bit of everything. Pasta nights could consist of stuffed ravioli, various fettuccine, or gnocchi with a special sauce. The 4 course dinner could consist of beef, poultry, seafood, or pork. We will let you know in advance of the menu(s).
Can I just show up to a class?
No. We'd prefer that you not. We will have all meats and vegetables fresh daily and we will only order enough for those who have booked a class for the evening. First you must check to see which class you're interested in, what day & time is available, and book that class online directly through our website, or through Facebook.
Is this a demonstration class?
No. Here we encourage you to find your spot around our teaching island, and to be completely involved.
What time should I arrive for my class?
We recommend arriving approximately 10-15 minutes prior to class. This way you can put your belongings up, find your spot, and get ready to cook!
Should I have dinner before attending my class, or will I be eating there?
You will be eating here! Our goal is to have the first menu item prepared and served within 30 minutes of the class start time. If this is later than you normally eat, we recommend having a light bite before class to tide you over.
Will I get a copy of the recipes made during class?
Yes! Every student gets a recipe packet at the beginning of class so that they can follow along with the instructor in the classes. You are welcome and encouraged to take these recipe packets with you after class and try them at home!
Are pictures allowed?
Pictures are allowed and encouraged! Our instructors love it when you feel that a dish is camera worthy, so please click away! Be sure to share and/or on our Facebook, Instagram, and/or Twitter pages.
Do I need any previous cooking experience to enjoy the class?
No previous experience is required! We encourage you to ask questions if there is something you don’t understand. There are no bad questions and our chefs are here to help so that you can recreate a recipe on your own at home.
Can I bring my child or teen to class with me?
Generally, our evening classes are designed for adults. We offer many classes especially for kids and teens as well as some parent and child classes. In our regular adult classes, every student must be at least 18 years old to attend and 21 to consume alcohol. We will make exceptions if this is a private party.
What happens if my class is canceled?
What if I have a food allergy?
How much do the classes cost?
The majority of our classes are between $45 – $200. This can change based on the type of class, private parties, and other variables.
Do I have to register in advance?
All classes require advance registration and payment via our website via credit card (Stripe, Paypal, Venmo, Square).
